Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager 

Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager. An energy transformation firm are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to take ownership of the commercial management of key contracts. This is a hands-on role where you will be part of the commercial team that will help deliver the growth strategy for the business. You will be involved in all stages from estimating & bids, through to completion of each project.

The Commercial Manager / Quantity Surveyor will be: 
 

  • Working with and supporting the Project Managers on a daily basis, to ensure projects are meeting commercial and financial targets (payment terms, JCT/NEC etc)
     
  • Contributing to regular and accurate reporting to the key stakeholders CVRs, Cash Flow, Weekly Updates etc
  • Assisting in and carry out valuations for the purpose of initial, interim and final payment applications
     
  • Assess and monitor payments for sub-contractor and supplier accounts in line with the agreed subcontracts and to align with any upstream contractual requirements
     
  • Identify, notify, value and agree change (variations, compensation events, claims) flagging to the business where the agreed cost and consequential GP may be impacted.
     
  • Work with the Commercial Contract Manager to maximise the recovery of all contractual entitlements.
  • Attending monthly project review and CVR meetings with the Project Manager
     
  • Assisting the Project Manager in a timely and complete handover of projects to the Design and Construction teams
  • Actively leading and participating in the creation and adjustment of processes, documentation and working templates, where necessary, including effective rollout for future projects.
     

The Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager responsibilities:
 

  • Building strong and collaborative relationships with both internal and external clients and supplier counterparts
     
  • Managing project budgets - profit and loss and providing regular commercial forecasts
    Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to use own initiative as well as work collaboratively as part of a team.
     
  • Proven track record of effectively managing both contracts and tenders.
     
  • Ability to work with multiple teams at any one time.  
     
  • Understanding of the Project life cycle, from ownership to completion.
     
  • Ability to track delivery against contracted scope of works.
     


The Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager will need: 
 

  • Experience with NEC & JCT contracts and their workings.
     
  • Technical or Commercial degree is preferable. 
     
  • At least 3 years in a similar role with similar responsibilities. 
     
  • Technical understanding of project delivery and pricing within MV/HV works. 
     
  • The use of Productivity and Collaboration Software such as Microsoft Office, 
     
  • Microsoft Teams, SharePoint etc. across multiple platforms such as smart phones, tablets, laptops etc.

 

The Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager salary is  £45-55k + great benefits
